With Modern PTQ season underway, plenty of players are innovating new ways to combine the thousands of Modern legal cards at their disposal. Magic Online user coughl has found a deck that is capable of doing something few other Modern decks are capable of.

Win on the third turn.

Deceiver Exarch + Splinter Twin is one of the defining combinations in Modern, but is often thought about as a turn-four combo. After all, Splinter Twin costs four mana. However, this deck features Noble Hierarch and Birds of Paradise to accelerate the combo by a full turn. Like many great Modern combo decks, this deck comes with a potent backup plan—Geist of Saint Traft. With the mana accelerants in this deck, a turn-two Geist of Saint Traft provides a potent threat, and often a flurry of Lightning Bolts, Remands, and Snapcaster Mages is enough for Geist of Saint Traft to attack for 20 damage quickly. Of course, when the opponent commits heavily to stopping Geist of Saint Traft, a Deceiver Exarch or Pestermite comes down and picks up a Splinter Twin, ending the game in a hurry.
