Lars Dam finished off an amazing weekend by defeating Cory Lack in the finals of the Magic Online Championship. Dam's Black Devotion deck put the pressure on early and Lack and his Blue Devotion deck never had a chance to recover, done in by lethal Gray Merchant of Asphodel plays in both games of the finals.
Sitting atop the standings all weekend, Dam not only earns the title of Magic Online Championship but also a seat at the 2014 World Championship, an invitation to next year's Magic Online Championship, and the $25,000 first prize.
Dam defeated the defending Magic Online Champion Dmitriy Butakov in the semifinals in a tense three-game match. Lack earned his spot in the finals by getting past Tamas Glied in the other semifinal.
DAY 2 COVERAGE
For Lars Dam and Tamas Glied, both of whom locked their seat in the Top 4 tomorrow, their match was nothing more than a warm-up. With the pressure off, the two players had a fairly relaxed match, with Glied taking down Dam 2-0. When the two came up, Glied greeted Dam with a smile. "See you in the finals tomorrow?" he asked, as Dam nodded in agreement.
