After 15 hard-fought rounds of Modern, with a total of 1,545 others eliminated, only eight players remained in the running. Their Top 8 performance came with invitations and airfare to Pro Tour Ravnica Allegiance ... and the opportunity to fight for the title and the trophy.

What Modern deck did you play this weekend, and why did you choose it? Hollow Boys. It's great and it can easily win through the sideboard hate.

What was the best card in your main deck, and why? Lightning Bolt! Just ask my opponents.

What was the best card out of your sideboard, and why? Leyline of the Void. It just wins games on its own.

What does this Top 8 mean to you? 4-8 pro points, 1,500-10,000 USD.

Previous Magic accomplishments: Lost two consecutive RPTQ win-and-PT. Several GP Top 32s.

What Modern deck did you play this weekend, and why did you choose it? Bant Spirits. I like this Collected Company deck.

What was the best card in your main deck, and why? Collected Company. I feel excited when using it because you don't know what you will get.

What was the best card out of your sideboard, and why? Knight of Autumn, a creature that can handle multitasks.

What does this Top 8 mean to you? Going to the PT, and earning money for a plane ticket to GP Portland.

What Modern deck did you play this weekend, and why did you choose it? Infect. After nearly a year of playing Jeskai Control, I didn't feel like working as hard for wins.

What was the best card in your main deck, and why? Distortion Strike. It makes Glistener Elf suck a bit less.

What was the best card out of your sideboard, and why? Distortion Strike! I wish I had 4.

What does this Top 8 mean to you? I'm excited as hell.

What Modern deck did you play this weekend, and why did you choose it? KCI. Rob Catton gave me a 75 with sideboard plans, and I didn't want to waste time thinking about Modern.

What was the best card in your main deck, and why? Sai, Master Thopterist—literally won every game I resolved it.

What was the best card out of your sideboard, and why? Same as above, except also Game 2/3s—Sai won every game she appeared in.

What does this Top 8 mean to you? Almost Silver!

What does this Top 8 mean to you? Helpful in becoming Gold.
