The First Day's 9-0 Decks of Grand Prix Birmingham 2017

When the smoke and dust had settled and the sounds of battle had died down for the night, six players were left who escaped the first day's nine rounds with perfect records of 9-0 still intact: Ivan De Castro Sanchez, Hylco Worm, Jérôme Bastogne, George Channing, Chris Arlow (pictured below, left to right) and Oscar Christensen (not pictured).

Their decks ran the full gamut from spell-based combo (Grishoalbrand, Ad Nauseam) to creature-based combo (Knightfall, Counters Company) to heavy disruption decks (Abzan, Grixis Death's Shadow). Curiously absent, despite showing up in huge numbers, were only the big-mana decks like Titan Shift and Eldrazi Tron.
