The 8-0 Decks of Grand Prix Brussels 2018

Posted in Event Coverage on August 12, 2018

1,109 players started into the tournament with clean records and high hopes. After the first day's eight rounds, however, 1,101 of them had a loss to their name or a draw or several. Only eight stood tall above the rest, sporting a perfect 8-0 record: Craig Barnes, Pascal Vieren, Socrates Rozakeas, Oliver Suters, Thijs van Maaren, Thomas Mechin, Marios Angelopoulos, and Alexander Gordon-Brown (pictured below, left to right)

Their decks included an interesting burn-heavy Mono-Red, a Sultai Midrange, a Turbo Fog, and ... five variations of the familiar theme of Goblin Chainwhirler with more or fewer black cards splashed into the mix.
