Clay Spicklemire was in a seemingly hopeless position when he strung together a patchwork of spells to win Grand Prix Columbus by attacking with a 22 power Noble Hierarch!
TOP 8 COVERAGE
While Miracles was the deck of the Top 8, with four players piloting the powerful strategy using Sensei’s Divining Top and Counterbalance to immense success, none were able to topple 16-year-old Clay Spicklemire. Using his Infect deck, Spicklemire was able to poison opponent after opponent as he battled his way to a final match against Joe Lossett. There, he won in very unconventional fashion, sending a 22 power Noble Hierarch into the red zone to secure the Grand Prix Columbus trophy and the $10,000 first place prize that comes with it.

DAY 2 COVERAGE
Yesterday, 1824 Eternal Masters arrived in Ohio with dreams of being crowned Grand Prix Columbus Champion. The players battled their way through nine rounds of Legacy and only those with the best records return this morning for another six rounds of Legacy before we cut to the Top 8 Elimination rounds. Only six players emerged from Day 1 with undefeated records: Jamie Naylor, Steven Lucci, Brian Rockenbach, Thomas Smiley, Daniel Weiser, and Joe Lossett.
The field of decks looked wildly diverse this morning, but Miracles decks using Counterbalance in tandem with Sensei’s Divining Top seem to be rising to the top of the standings. Countless strategies including Grixis Delver, Burn, Eldrazi, and even Food Chain decks still have horses in the race. What decks will be left standing after another six rounds of Legacy? Stay tuned to continuing coverage of Grand Prix Columbus!
