Top 5 Cards by Tobi HenkeThese were the cards that shaped the tournament, that sparked discussions and were the most debated, the cards that won games and turned Grand Prix Copenhagen into an event to remember … #5...
The Little Mermaid stood tall at Grand Prix Copenhagen, as Poland's Przemek Knocinski took the trophy and title with one of two Merfolk decks to make the Top 8 in Modern, defeating Steve Hatto's Scapeshift in the finals.
TOP 8 COVERAGE
It was a great weekend for Magic, it was a great weekend for Modern, and it was a particularly great weekend for Merfolk. 1,345 players descended upon Copenhagen for their shot at fame and fortune, to win prizes and Pro Points, and to simply have fun playing Magic. Modern once again impressed with its huge variety of viable strategies, with seven different archetypes making the Top 8, including two Merfolk decks piloted by Christoffer Larsen and Przemek Knocinski. Both made it to the semifinals but it was Poland's Przemek Knocinski who, after beating Death and Taxes, Jund, and Scapeshift in the Top 8, claimed the trophy and the title.
Meanwhile, the event was one of the last chances for players to earn Pro Points before the season's inevitable conclusion at Pro Tour Magic Origins at the end of July, and several players made good use of this chance. Most notably, Marcio Carvalho became a virtual lock for the Pro Players Club's Platinum level when he won his quarterfinal match here. Jacob Wilson also scored some additional points with his Top 16 finish and ended the weekend tied with Shaun McLaren in the race to become this year's Canadian national champion. Fabrizio Anteri and Martin Müller improved their Pro Point total as well, now needing but one more point to secure Gold …
However, this will have to wait for another tournament. Now it's time for us to say goodbye from Denmark—and congratulations to Przemek Knocinski, champion of Grand Prix Copenhagen 2015!

DAY 1 COVERAGE
The first day of Grand Prix Copenhagen is over, and what a day that has been! 1,345 players entered the tournament in the morning and all but 158 of them have been eliminated, with lots of close games, exciting matches, and sudden turnabouts happening every round.
The Modern format also proved to be just as diverse as entertaining … as always. Griselbrand and Borborygmos teamed up for some turn-two kills, Collected Company accompanied a wide selection of creatures, Splinter Twins enchanted Deceiver Exarchs, Gurmag Anglers faced off against Siege Rhinos, we saw Death's Shadow as well as Jeskai Ascendancy, we witnessed Scapeshift and Summer Bloom boost out lands and Blood Moon bust them, we ran into Elves and Merfolk and many many more!
Atop the standings after nine rounds, with pristine records of 9-0, were the following five: Martin Persson, Christoffer Larsen, and Frederik Hemmingsen all proudly flying the Danish flag, with the lone Belgian Micky Mattens in between. Meanwhile, well-known players like Marcio Carvalho, Fabrizio Anteri, Frederico Bastos, Florian Koch, Raphaël Lévy, and Martin Müller, a few of them on the prowl for some eleventh-hour Grand Prix Pro Points, all advanced to Day 2 with at least eight wins.
In any case, we won't be lacking in interesting decks and interesting people to feature tomorrow. So check back then, when we bring you all the news, all the tech, and all the action straight from the battlefield of Grand Prix Copenhagen 2015!
