We won last time and wanted to run it back.

What was the most helpful thing your teammates did for you in the tournament?

Forced me to splash Baloth Null in my first deck, when I thought it wasn't worth it.

What colors were your first Sealed deck? What was your record and best card? White-Black Allies, went 8-1. Best card was Shambling Vent.

What about your second? Black-Red Devoid, went 4-0-1. Best card was Reality Smasher.

Why did you play with the teammates you did? Best friends, best players.

What was the most helpful thing your teammates did for you in the tournament? Win.
 


William Jensen

Previous Magic accomplishments: Hall of Fame class of 2013.

What colors were your first Sealed deck? What was your record and best card? Mono-red with colorless, went 8-1. Best card was Reality Smasher.

What about your second? White-Red Allies. No good cards, went 4-0-1.

Why did you play with the teammates you did? Because they are two of my closest friends and the two best Magic players in the world. Also, we took an oath in a peach garden.

What was the most helpful thing your teammates did for you in the tournament? Win. A lot.
 


Reid Duke

Previous Magic accomplishments: 2011 Magic Online champion; Top 8 Pro Tour Atlanta in 2014; 16 previous Grand Prix Top 8s.

What colors were your first Sealed deck? What was your record and best card? Blue-Black, had Sphinx of the Final Word.

What about your second? 4-0-1, was Black-Green splash blue with two Baloth Null.

Why did you play with the teammates you did? Peach Garden Oath.

What was the most helpful thing your teammates did for you in the tournament? Built the best decks we possibly could from our sealed decks.


TEAM Spaulding, Hoaen, Martell

Ian Spaulding

Age: 36

Hometown: Mountain View, California

Previous Magic accomplishments: Fourth place at Grand Prix Oakland in 2003.

What colors were your first Sealed deck? What was your record and best card? White-Black with Eldrazi Displacer. I am happy to have that card in any deck. Went 8-1.

What about your second? Blue-Black Control. Had Oblivion Sower and Inverter of Truths. Went 4-0; the deck was amazing.

Why did you play with the teammates you did? I begged Martell for a team since he never gave me a wedding present (seven years ago).

What was the most helpful thing your teammates did for you in the tournament? Win matches when I lost and pumped me back up if I lost.
 


Richard Hoaen

Previous Magic accomplishments: Won my last two Team Grand Prix

What colors were your first Sealed deck? What was your record and best card? White-Red with Gideon, Ally of Zendikar, went 8-1.

What about your second? White-Black with Munda's Vanguard, went 4-1.

Why did you play with the teammates you did? Hron was busy.

What was the most helpful thing your teammates did for you in the tournament? Win a lot, and Ian carried our decks and brought dice.
 


Tom Martell

Previous Magic accomplishments: Pro Tour Gatecrash winner, Pro Tour Paris Top 8 appearance, three Grand Prix wins.

What colors were your first Sealed deck? What was your record and best card? Red-Green; went 8-1. Deck was great - lots of good cards. Probably Nissa's Judgment or Fall of the Titans.

What about your second? Red-Green splash blue. Nissa's Judgment was the best.

Why did you play with the teammates you did? Rich is one of the best Team Limited players of all time, and Ian has been one of my best friends for 15 years and Kai turned us down, so we picked him up.

What was the most helpful thing your teammates did for you in the tournament? Ian carried our deck boxes and got us water
