Albertus Law navigates past 945 other players in Guangzhou to win his second Grand Prix with Grixis Delver!
Top 8 Coverage
946 players arrived in Guangzhou with the goal of winning the entire Grand Prix. In the end, it was Albertus Law who rose to the top, doing so with Grixis Delver. This is the Singaporean's second Grand Prix win, the first being Grand Prix Singapore 2001 a whooping fifteen years ago.
The tournament looked like it was to be dominated by the Japanese, seeing how No. 22-ranked Ryoichi Tamada, three-time Pro Tour Top 8 competitor Kentaro Yamamoto, and two-time Grand Prix Top 8 competitor Keita Kawasaki all made the cut. However, with the trio falling by the wayside in their respective quarterfinals and with all three Singaporeans advancing to the semifinals, things were looking really exciting indeed.
Pro Tour Return to Ravnica Top 8 competitor and three-time Singapore National Champion, Kelvin Chew looked like he was the favorite in the semifinals, but quickly dropped his match against Wu Kon Fai's Naya Burn deck. Lim Zhong Yi's insane run in the Swiss rounds came to an unfortunate end when Law stopped him.
With Wu and Law advancing to the finals, things looked really grim for Law when he lost the first game to a topdecked Lightning Bolt. Thankfully, Law stayed calm and managed to turn things around and mopped things up with a horde of Young Pyromancer tokens!
Congratulations once again Albertus Law!

Day 2 Coverage
Our triple Modern Grand Prix weekend is just beginning to heat up! 289 players return today for Day Two of Grand Prix Guangzhou, with Ryoichi Tamada, Lim Zhong Yi, and Jia Hao leading the pack! Despite having a comparatively easier route to the Top 8, a bunch of talent are hot on their heels.
Japanese superstars Kentaro Yamamoto and Yuuki Ichikawa will attempt to take the crown, as will two Singaporeans with Pro Tour Top 8s (Kelvin Chew and Albertus Law). Former Chinese National Champion and upcoming World Magic Cup attendee Yu Yin is also at 8-1. Meanwhile, in the X-2 bracket, Tomoharu Saito, Jason Chung, Shuhei Nakamura, Zhang Zhiyang among others will try to elbow their way out of the bustling crowd.
Eldritch Moon's impact is definitely being felt in Modern but what eight decks will make it through to the playoffs? Just hang in there for six more rounds and we'll find out!

Day 1 Coverage
946 showed up at the inaugural Grand Prix Guangzhou with their trusty Modern decks, but only so many players can go undefeated. In our case, we've got three players at 9-0 and none at 8-0-1. This means our heroic trio are way ahead of the pack and have a significantly less arduous path to the Top 8 tomorrow!
No. 22-ranked Ryoichi Tamada, the highest ranked player in the room, is top in Swiss with U/R Pyromancer Ascension, closely followed by Lim Zhong Yi with Death's Shadow Aggro and Jia Hao with Naya Burn.

If you're still hungering for more Modern adventure, Grand Prix Lille and Grand Prix Indianapolis are underway and live coverage will be provided quite literally around the clock!
Just for this weekend, everybody's dancing in the Eldritch moonlight.
