Two little-known players met in this semifinal pairing, two players still looking to make a name for themselves. One of them would have further opportunity by advancing to the finals of this 1,760-player event!

Magnus Lantto was playing Birthing Pod; Piotr Głogowski had brought an Amulet of Vigor/Primeval Titan/Hive Mind concoction with Summer Bloom, Azusa, Lost but Seeking, and lots of bouncelands like Simic Growth Chamber. This would certainly make for an interesting match!

Game 1

Głogowski only cast his first spells on turn three: Summoner's Pact followed by Azusa, Lost but Seeking. He then spend turn four paying for the pact.

Meanwhile, Lantto had summoned some creatures, stuffed those creatures into Birthing Pod to get bigger creatures, but all of that proved immaterial when, on turn five, Głogowski cast Hive Mind and two Summoner's Pacts Lantto couldn't pay for.

Game 2

This time, Lantto started with some disruption. A turn-one Thoughtseize took Primeval Titan out of Głogowski's hand, and basically that was enough already. Lantto assembled some creatures, pointed a timely Abrupt Decay at Głogowski's Seal of Primordium, and began using his Birthing Pod, while Głogowski had a lot of mana but nothing to do with it.

And that didn't change until Siege Rhinos had decreased Głogowski life to 0 either.

Piotr Głogowski 1-1 Magnus Lantto

Game 3

Again, Lantto had Thoughtseize and decided to pick Głogowski's only real business spell in Summoner's Pact. By turn three, Głogowski had access to six mana and again nothing to spend it on.
