TOP 8 COVERAGE
Nearly 1,400 players arrived in Milwaukee to battle in the final run for Kaladesh limited. In a field dominated early by last week’s champion Matt Severa — who ran off a perfect 9-0 Day 1 record in his home state — it was ultimately Carter who withstood the heat, even as the snow fell heavy outside.
Carter’s own 9-0 run on Saturday may not have led the headlines, but by the time the Top 8 was over the Cubs fan had etched his name in Brewers country. His black-green deck featuring Verdurous Gearhulk and a multitude of ways to interact with fabricate creatures ran the table in a loaded Top 8 that featured four members of the pro team East-West Bowl. Carter knocked off Toshiya Kanegawa in a tight semifinal match before dispatching Evan Petre in the semis and then East-West Bowler Brandon Fischer in an exciting and lightning-fast three-game finals.
Congratulations to Carter, your Grand Prix Milwaukee champion!

DAY 2 COVERAGE
It’s snowing outside—gorgeously. People were up early this morning for two reasons: (1) To check to see if their flight was already cancelled, and (2) To prep for the last day of Kaladesh Limited! It’s draft time!
Leading the pack going into the draft rounds are Toshiya Kanegawa, Joe Angelo, Tyler Hill, Steven Carter and Matt Severa. They are the 9-0s and going into the day with all their other permanents having hexproof—which is to say, of course, they are in a Privileged Position.
The biggest story here so far is Wisconsinite and original “Madison crew” member, Matt Severa just running like a Speedway Fanatic. So far, he in undefeated in his last twenty Grand Prix matches. Twenty. 2 0.
He won last weekend in Denver, and he’s still undefeated here.
It would be an amazing homecoming, and an amazing end to 2016—Severa’s banner year so far—to close out with a strong finish here. He already has four Top 8s this year. Why not a fifth to cap it all off?
It’s snowing outside and the streets are peaceful in Milwaukee; but inside, it’s Kaladesh-infused mayhem.

DAY 1 COVERAGE
1,331 players showed up on the first day, but only five finished perfectly on the last first day of KaladeshLimited. A lot has changed throughout the tenure of Limited and a lot of card evaluation moved around. Players who've adapted have thrived throughout the first rounds.
Toshiya Kanegawa, Joe Angelo, Tyler Hill, Steven Carter, and Matt Severa are the lead dogs for tomorrow's Iditarod. It's already snowing outside the convention hall, and there will be more to accumulate for Sunday (hence, that whole "Iditarod" thing), but it's nice and toasty in here. Everyone's been crashing cardboard into other cardboard voraciously, and it's certainly kept us all warm.
Tomorrow will be the last Grand Prix day of 2016, and we'll close out the year with a bang. Whether it's the flares from Chandra's Pyrohelix, or the emergence of a Giant Spectacle, or just Matt Severa becoming the first person everto win four Grand Prix in a single year, we'll see. But it's going to be good, and the inside of this convention center has certainly offered an inspiring vantage to the end of 2016 Magic.
See you on Sunday!
