TOP 8 COVERAGE
2007 players came to Grand Prix New York to try their hand at the exciting new Standard format. The format proved to be a wild environment with a field of decks as diverse as The Big Apple. Known decks like Green-White Tokens and Collected Company had a huge presence, but exciting new strategies like Black-Green Great Aurora made a big splash.
After fifteen rounds of swiss, only eight players remained. (17) Mike Sigrist, (1) Seth Manfield, Scott Lipp, Michael Majors, Daniel Ward, Brandon Ayers, Ralph Betesh, and Louis Samuel-Deltour made the cut.
Manfield and his unique take on White-Black Control overtook Ralph Betesh’s Grixis Control in the quarterfinals, bested Scott Lipp’s Four Color Cryptolith deck in the semis, and ran it back against Louis Deltour’s Four Color Cryptolith deck in the finals!
