Top 8 Coverage
Nearly 1,300 players arrived in Orlando intent on proving their mettle at Aether Revolt Limited. In a weekend filled with memorable stories, a few stood out above the rest but none shined brighter than that of Joel Larsson, who overcame a frustrating year so far to take down a loaded Top 8 on his way to victory. His blue-black deck took out Patrick Tierney in the quarterfinals before cruising past Chris Pikula – himself wrapping up an impressive weekend that saw his first Grand Prix Top 8 in 12 years – to face off against young hotshot Noah Walker in the finals. A tight match that dealt Larsson his first loss of the Top 8, it all came down to a decisive third game, where the Swedish pro was able to eke out a victory to take the trophy.
With that, we say goodbye to individual Aether Revolt and Kaladesh competition. It was quite the sendoff, and Larsson made sure to end things with an exclamation mark.
