When Francisco Barciella, Eloi Pattaro showed up with former World Champion Carlos Romao, they didn't expect to win. Sure, they came to win, but for it to actually happen was beyond their wildest expectations. The three lifelong friends fought past 363 other teams, and battled alongside each other all weekend and eventually defeating Team Inside Games (Jonathan Melamed, Mateus Martins and Paulo Martinello).

The semifinalists shouldn't be too upset either, because everything was almost like a fairytale ending. Despite being eliminated in the playoffs, Team Degenerates pretty much got what they came here for. They managed to get Pascal Maynard locked for Platinum, and nudge Brian Braun-Duin ahead of Tomoharu Saito in the race for Grand Prix Master, and also scored Shaheen Soorani his very first Grand Prix Top 8 while hitting Silver!

Last but not least, Team Hawaiian Dreams (Pinto Renato, Leonardo Labruna and Diego Coelho) also had their wishes granted. Hawaiian. Dreams. Subtle.

World Champion or no World Champion, Romao couldn't have it alone, and he agrees wholeheartedly that Barciella and Pattaro have put in their equal share of hard work all weekend and are the best teammates ever! Day 2 Coverage

Ahhh... Don't you just love the smell of fresh boosters in the morning?

As we speak, 73 teams are ripping open 12 new Shadows over Innistrad for the next step of their journey, and will be competing in 5 more rounds of Team Sealed before the cut to Top 4.

The local trio trio of Cesar Siqueira - Matsumoto Varela - Da Silva Almeida are the only undefeated team left, winning all of their 9 matches yesterday. They have a less treacherous journey to the playoffs, but the others are not going to make it easy for them.

Team Degenerates (Pascal Maynard, Brian Braun-Duin, and Shaheen Soorani) has its eyes set on the Top 4 at the very least, while Team Capybara (Michael Bonde, Tomoharu Saito, and Thiago Rodrigues) have pretty much the same goal. In particular, Braun-Duin and Saito are neck and neck in the race for Grand Prix Master, a title that will also grant them a spot at the World Championship.

The Brazilian superstar line-up of Willy Edel, Paulo Vitor Damo Da Rosa, and Esper Berthoud, as well as the all-European team of Andreas Ganz, Simon Görtzen, and Florian Koch, are all on 7-1-1, ready to make a dash to the finish line. The all-Japanese team of Ryoichi Tamada, Shuhei Nakamura, and Sato Rei made the cut, as well as defending Team Champions Tulio Jaudy and Guilherme Merjam, this time supported by Platinum Pro Marcio Carvalho. Day 1 Coverage

São Paulo isn't exactly the center of the world, or even Brazil for the matter, but that didn't stop 1092 players from showing up! After 9 rounds of Team Sealed, 364 teams has been whittled away to just 73.

The trio of Cesar Siqueira - Matsumoto Varela - Da Silva Almeida are the only 9-0 team in the entire tournament. As a matter of fact, they're the only undefeated players, because there's nobody at 8-0-1 either. It is truly lonely at the top, but at least you guys have two teammates by your side.

In all honesty, it was far from an easy feat for the three close friends. Slowly and steadily, they racked up their wins one by one and even had to overcome the killer line-up of Pascal Maynard, Brian Braun-Duin and Shaheen Soorani in Round 9. Against all odds, they maximized their card pool, crafted the best decks that they could, and helped each other along the way.

Brian Braun-Duin shouldn't be too upset with the 7-1-1 finish, because that's still a great position for picking up a bunch of Pro Points to propel himself ahead in the race for Grand Prix Master. However, Tomoharu Saito's team (with Michael Bonde and Thiago Rodrigues) is at 7-2, which is really not that far behind either.

Despite picking up a loss in Round 2, Willy Edel, Paulo Vitor Damo Da Rosa and Esper Berthoud fought back to eventually finish 7-1-1, which puts them just one place below the Europeans (Andreas Ganz, Simon Görtzen and Florian Koch) who are 7-1-1 as well.
