TOP 8 COVERAGE
Adam Jansen may seem mild-mannered, but he brought the pain throughout the Top 8, smashing the competition with his powerful Blue-Red Surge deck. With all-stars like Jori En, Ruin Diver and Fall of the Titans, Jansen capped it off with a rousing third game against Pro Tour Theros champion Jeremy Dezani, and pulled through in the clutch.
The game was a microcosm for the event. There were some ups and downs, but ended soaringly high. Shuhei Nakamura lost his win-and-in which would have seem him tie Olivier Ruel's Grand Prix Top 8 record. And Team East West Bowl threatened to dominate the Top 8, but cannibalized each other just before the Top 8, only putting through Eric Severson.
But Severson's win was big. After losing 6 straight last matches to qualify for the Pro Tour Oath of the Gatewatch, the seventh time was the charm, at the last possible moment. Next week he's flying to the Pro Tour.
It was an amazing weekend—not just here, but across the world in Mexico City and Nagoya as well. Oath of the Gatewatch Limited has proven a challenging, fun, and powerful format indeed. And this weekend has only whet our appetites for what's to come next weekend in Atlanta!
See you then!
Day 2 Coverage
It's the second day here in Vancouver! For many players this will be this will be the first time draftingOath of the Gatewatchon a big stage—and for many pros, important Pro TourOath of the Gatewatchtesting for them and their teams. They'll be competing on the biggest Magicstage next weekend inAtlanta.
Grand Prix Nagoya has finished across the ocean, and surely players have been scouring the coverage to see what might work for today.
Canadian Jon Stern, Ben Weitz, Chris Hewitt, Nick Slind, Allen Sun, Han Li, and Martin Goldman-Kirst sit atop the standings so far. But doing well in Sealed and doing well in Draft can be two different beasts. Additionally, most of these players are in their first pod with Pro Tour Hall of Famer Shuhei Nakamura, who's 8-1, waiting to reclaim his rightful throne on the top of the mountain.
A win here for Nakamura would mean he becomes the winningist Grand Prix player in Magic history. He's gotta be hungry for that—he might even eat worlds for it.

Day 1 Coverage
It was a big first day here in Vancouver. On this triple-Grand Prix weekend (with Grand Prix events in Nagoya and Mexico City as well), players are clamoring to make their mark in the new Oath of the Gatewatch Limited format before the Pro Tour next week in Atlanta.
Here in Vancouver, veteran Canadian Jon Stern is the biggest name among the 9-0s, but 2014-2015 Rookie of the Year runner-up Ben Weitz, Chris Hewitt, Nick Slind, Allen Sun, and Han Li are pretty pumped about an X-0 finish and are ready to translate into a Top 8 tomorrow. And Martin Goldman-Kirst sits just below them at 8-0-1.
The colorless mana changes and the Wastes have been distorting Magic reality, but players with 6-3 records or better have proven themselves worthy. They will return tomorrow to draft!
