Regional Pro Tour Qualifiers (RPTQs) for Pro Tour Shadows over Innistrad take place February 20 – 28, 2016. The format for this round of RPTQs is Standard Constructed.
The Top 4 finishers of a Regional Pro Tour Qualifier with 128 or fewer players receive airfare and invitations to Pro Tour Shadows over Innistrad, while 5th- through 8th-place finishers receive invitations to the next round of Regional Pro Tour Qualifiers. If the Regional Pro Tour Qualifier is 129 or more players, 5th- through 8th-place finishers instead receive airfare and invitations to Pro Tour Shadows over Innistrad.
The format for this Regional Pro Tour Qualifier season is Standard Constructed.
As a reminder, players are only allowed to compete in one Regional Pro Tour Qualifier if they are qualified to play in one.
Qualification
Regional Pro Tour Qualifiers are an invitation-only event. An invitation to participate in a Regional Pro Tour Qualifier for Pro Tour Shadows over Innistrad is offered to the following:
- Players who have a Pro Tour Players Club Silver level (as of the date of the Regional Pro Tour Qualifier).
- Players who won a Preliminary Pro Tour Qualifier from August 22, 2015 to November 22, 2015.
- Players who finished 5th- through 8th-place at a Regional Pro Tour Qualifier for Pro Tour Oath of the Gatewatch that had 128 or fewer players.
Eligibility
The following players may not compete in Regional Pro Tour Qualifiers for Pro Tour Shadows over Innistrad:
- Players who have previously participated in a Regional Pro Tour Qualifier that awards an invitation to Pro Tour Shadows over Innistrad.
- Players who have won a Magic Online Pro Tour Qualifier Final that awards an invitation to Pro Tour Shadows over Innistrad.
- Players who have won a Magic Online Championship Series (MOCS) tournament, Player of the Year Championship tournament, or Last Chance Qualifier tournament that awards invitations to Pro Tour Shadows over Innistrad.
- Players who finished in the Top 8 of an individual-format Grand Prix that awards invitations to Pro Tour Shadows over Innistrad.
- Players who finished in the Top 4 of a team-format Grand Prix that awards invitations to Pro Tour Shadows over Innistrad.
- Players who finished with 33 or more match points at Pro Tour Oath of the Gatewatch.
- Players with a Pro Tour Players Club Gold or Platinum level (as of the date of the Regional Pro Tour Qualifier).
- Players who are members of the Pro Tour Hall of Fame.

General Information
Prizes
The Top 4 of each Regional PTQ with attendance of 128 or fewer players receive an invitation and travel award* to Pro Tour Shadows over Innistrad.
If the Regional PTQ has an attendance of 129 or more players, the Top 8 receive an invitation and travel award* to Pro Tour Shadows over Innistrad. There is no Top 8 playoff if the event has 129 or more players.
The Top 16 players in each Regional PTQ will receive a Regional PTQ playmat.

*Travel
The players eligible to receive a travel award will receive instructions from Wizards of the Coast regarding whom they must contact and the deadline by which they must arrange their travel awards. Wizards of the Coast will not refund travel made outside this service. Wizards of the Coast reserves the right to award a cash equivalent award in lieu of any travel award in its sole discretion.
All travel itineraries must be from the international airport nearest the player's home and to the host city of the Pro Tour, and must include all the dates of that event. No award will be substituted if member is unable to participate. All other expenses are the responsibility of the member and may include, without limitation, accommodations, ground transportation, taxes, itinerary change fees, passport and visa fees.
This award must be redeemed through member's arrangement of travel itinerary no later than (30) days before departure. Failure to complete travel arrangements as directed by Wizards of the Coast prior to this deadline will result in forfeiture of the award. Every member receiving a travel award must provide to Wizards of the Coast an executed liability release, the appropriate US taxation form (W9 or W8) (or have one on file), up-to-date contact information on your DCI membership, and proof of ID and passport (when required by international destination). In all cases, all such documentation must be provided to Wizards of the Coast, or must have been previously on file, at least thirty (30) days before departure. Failure to timely provide such documentation will result in forfeiture of the award.
Players under the age of eighteen (18) at the time of the Pro Tour will receive a cash equivalent award in lieu of expenses, paid air ticket, and/or hotel accommodations. Such player must still attend, compete, and be listed in the finish of the tournament or forfeit this award.

Magic Online Regional Pro Tour Qualifiers
The round of Regional Pro Tour Qualifiers taking place between February 20 and 27, 2016, will have two Magic Online Regional Pro Tour Qualifiers in which qualified players may participate. The first will take place on February 20 at 3 p.m. PT, and the second one will take place February 27 at 5 a.m. PT.
To register for a Magic Online Regional Pro Tour Qualifier, a player who is qualified to compete in that round of Regional Pro Tour Qualifiers must send an email to premierplay@wizards.com with the following elements:
- The title of the email should be "Magic Online RPTQ."
- The email should include your DCI number, Magic Online username, and the date of the Magic Online Regional Pro Tour Qualifier that you wish to participate in.
- This email needs to be sent by Monday, February 15, 2016.
Magic Online Regional Pro Tour Qualifiers will be capped at 212 players, so sign up early if you intend to play.
The Top 8 players will receive invitations to compete in Pro Tour Shadows over Innistrad, as well as an invitation to play in the Pro Tour Challenge event at that Pro Tour.
The format for these Regional Pro Tour Qualifiers is Standard Constructed.
As a reminder, if you play in a Regional Pro Tour Qualifier during a qualifying round, you cannot play in any other Regional Pro Tour Qualifiers during that qualifying round, including Magic Online Regional Pro Tour Qualifiers. Your invitation to compete in a Regional Pro Tour Qualifier—whether because you won a Preliminary Pro Tour Qualifier, earned an invitation with a fifth through eighth place finish at the previous round's Regional PTQ of 128 or fewer players, or are Silver in the Pro Tour Players Club—only lets you compete in one Regional Pro Tour Qualifier.
