Now that our Onslaught previews are over, we can get back to the business at hand… Selecting Eighth Edition! (Haven't been following along? Review the Selecting Eighth Edition archive here.)

We have a couple of steps left. One is voting on the submitted flavor text for six cards, and the other is voting on which basic land art will appear in the set. This week we'll tackle half of the first part.

The three card's we'll be voting on are Aladdin's Ring, Orcish Artillery, and Persecute. All of the entries below were submitted by players. Our staff chose the best ones, and those are the options. Persecute is special in that we asked for real-world quotes.

So read them over and vote for your favorite! The winners will end up on the actual Eighth Edition cards!

You can't see the polls because you are not logged in. Our login process helps us maintain secure voting. You can login HERE or register HERE. After you are registered and you log in, you can return to this page and reload it to see the polls.

After you vote in each poll, use your Back button to return to this page and vote in the next poll. Only one vote for each poll will be recorded.

What should the flavor text be for Aladdin's Ring in Eighth Edition? In his hand lay the ring. And in the ring, lay Death. It took the wizard years to obtain the famed treasure, but only seconds to reduce his enemies to sad remains.Crafted from desert sand/ Carved with desert wind/ Carrying a desert's deathWhen it was time to divide the spoils from the dungeon, they foolishly laughed at the young mage for choosing a humble ring. With power comes responsibility...Aladdin never was that responsible."A good lamp will light your way. A good ring will clear it." --attributed to Aladdin's jeweler."Who needs the other two wishes when I have this?"Aside from the smell of charred flesh, Aladdin rather liked his new ring. With this ring I thee slay...It grants all wishes of pain.
What should the flavor text be for Orcish Artillery in Eighth Edition? The artillery was an excellent device for judging distances by how long the ammunition screamed. The second most common cause of Orc death. Natural causes comes in 34th.To the orcs, stealth technology simply meant placing a gag over the mouth of the ammunition."Further research confirms that the thin one not only are easier to tie and load up, but also go higher and farther." --Orcish Research Center (ORC)"This is going to hurt you a lot more than it hurts me... or was it the other way around?"Fly like an eagle, fall like a rock."So, they want to kill my men. Well, Two can play that game." --Orcish GeneralAll of a sudden, the pieces--the all-rock diet, the "flying lessons"--fell together for Korgex. He screamed."Now accepting donations of ammunition. Pots, pans, broken yard tools, naughty children, anything will do!" --Orcish Council of WarGlok felt one glorious moment of pride just before he smashed the gate open with his face.
What should the flavor text be for Persecute in Eighth Edition?“At once as far as Angels kenn he views / The dismal Situation waste and wild, / A Dungeon horrible, on all sides round” --John Milton, Paradise Lost“‘I’ll be the judge, I’ll be the jury,’ said cunning old Fury, ‘I’ll try the whole cause, and condemn you to death.’” --Lewis Carroll, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland“Some rise by sin, and some by virtue fall.” --William Shakespeare, Measure for Measure“Is it decreed that one half of the flock should be the persecutor of the other?” --Marquis de Sade“What is their hatred but a proof that I am speaking the truth? Hence has arisen the prejudice against me.” --Plato, Apology“What other dungeon is so dark as one’s own heart? What other jailer so inexorable as one’s self?” --Nathaniel Hawthorne, The House of Seven Gables"Of all the tyrannies on human kind / The worst is that which persecutes the mind." --John Dryden, “The Hind and the Panther”
