左からAlex Shvartsman、Olivier Ruel、Antoine Ruel 一昨年のグランプリ名古屋では New Wave に、昨年のグランプリ横浜では ABU によって国内チーム戦のタイトルはともに流出してしまっている。そう、タイトルは外国勢にほしいがままにされているのだ。
...そして、三度、黒船はやってきた。

世界最強の兄弟プレイヤーとして有名な Ruel Brothers とグランプリ福岡のタイトルを掴み取っていった Alex Shvartsman がプロポイント獲得のための特別編成チームを結成した。直前のプロツアーニースで Alex に口説かれたかたちの Ruel 兄弟などは「優勝以外の戦績だと遠征日をペイできないんだよね。」（Olivier 談）とのことだ。裏を返すと「優勝できる強い自信があるからこそわざわざやってきたんだよ。もちろん」（Antoine 談）。
■Very Very Strong Packs
サブタイトルに使ったのはリーダー格である Alex Shvartsman が自分たちの開封したパックを評した台詞だ。《踏み荒らし/Overrun》を筆頭に《霊気の噴出/AEther Burst》、《避難/Shelter》、《熊人間/Werebear》をはじめとした優秀なカードたちが 2 枚ずつ出現するという豪華さだった。
《ボールシャンの協力者/Balshan Collaborator》の存在ゆえに青黒デッキを最初に構築しようとした Breaking Ruels だったが、この《協力者》は結局赤黒デッキのタッチカラーとしての活路を見出されたのだった。

全員が口をそろえて 4-0 スタートを公言してはばからない Breaking Ruels だったが、はたしてそう上手くいくものだろうか。
たしかに素晴らしいパックと素晴らしいプレイヤーという条件は満たされたわけだが、まさか...があるかもしれない。
