チーム「ゴジラ」のほとんどのプレイヤーがこの青緑デッキを選択し、マスターズでの決勝進出を決めていた Budde もこれにパイロットしての二日目進出を果たしている。ただ、San Diego に続いて13 point （足きりラインスレスレ）しか初日に獲得できなかったことは周囲を驚かせたものだ。...Juggernaut にも休憩が必要なのだろうか？

そして、関西勢が使用した Cycling-Madness は限定構築のスペシャリスト、藤田剛史の手によるものだった。サイドの《全面否定/Fervent Denial》、メインからの《説得/Persuasion》がメタ的にも大ヒットの快心作である。藤田はこのデッキによって初日 7 Round 終了時点での暫定ポールポジションを獲得したわけだから、その判断の精確さが窺い知れようものである。
ともかく、「ゴジラのチューニングとまったく同じレシピに到達した上で、それをメタった」というわけなのだから、もはや藤田の慧眼は世界的に認められるものとなった。

トーメントが黒いセットであっただけに、必然的にフィールドは黒くなった。中でも、中途半端なクリーチャーデッキを食い物にし、青緑とも対等に渡りあえるだけのレシピに到達した成功者の筆頭として、 Jens Thoren が藤田とならぶ初日全勝からの暫定 2 位というポジションを獲得した。

Brian Kibler 、Ben Rubin の「Super Gro」コンビに Baby Huey 、Magic Colony（いわゆる旧ABUの選りすぐりを中心とした新たなグループ）といった面々がまったく新しいタイプの《サイカトグ》をプレイしたものだった。マッドネスとのシナジーを重視したスタイルの、本当に斬新なデッキであった。いい意味でも悪い意味でも。

そして、OBC のリミテッドフォーマットを圧倒的に支配した CMU の面々も Tog デッキであった。Kibler たちに比べればオーソドックスな仕上がりだが、奇抜であれば何でも良いというわけではない、ということも彼らから学ぶべき教訓なのかもしれない。
ちなみに、初日で姿を消してしまった我らが Rookie も青黒 Tog のメインボードに《パッチワーク・ノーム/Patchwork Gnomes》と《霊力/Psionic Gift》を投入するという大胆な策を講じたのだが...彼にも土曜日は訪れなかったのであった。
