Game 1
宝輪がオース、小栗がマルカ・デスという対決。
対青緑マッドネ７ス、対マルカの回答として有力視されるオースデッキを操る宝輪に対して、小栗はいかに《樹上の村/Treetop Village》で攻め立てられるか。
序盤に《破滅的な行為/Pernicious Deed》も《ドルイドの誓い/Oath of Druids》も用意出来ず、苦しい立ち上がりの宝輪。
ひたすら小栗の《貪欲なるベイロス/Ravenous Baloth》《魂売り/Spiritmonger》をカウンターして時間を稼ぎ、《嘘か真か/Fact or Fiction》につなぎ《ドルイドの誓い》を手に加えるが、相手に先に出されている《破滅的な行為》が邪魔で展開出来ない。
しかしマナを揃えた宝輪は自らも《破滅的な行為》を張って場を一掃。満を持して《ドルイドの誓い》を戦場に送り込む。
だが小栗の場にはクリーチャーは存在せず、さらに《樹上の村》《黄塵地帯/Dust Bowl》と用意されており《ドルイドの誓い》が起動出来ないのみならず自分の《樹上の村》まで破壊されてしまった。
《嘘か真か/Fact or Fiction》《渦巻く知識/Brainstorm》と連打してライブラリーを掘り進めるも、見えるのはカウンター呪文ばかり。
やっとの思いで辿り着き、フルタップで召喚した《認識を食うもの/Cognivore》は速やかに《終止/Terminate》され、いよいよ万事休すかという所で《狡猾な願い/Cunning Wish》をキャスト。《悪魔の布告/Diabolic Edict》によって《樹上の村》を除去する事に成功し、宝輪は残りライフ3で何とか踏み止まる。
小栗は仕方無く《樹上の村》待ちモードに入る。
そしてデュエルの流れがゆっくりした所で引き増し呪文を連打する宝輪。ついに2枚目の《狡猾な願い》を手に入れ、持って来たカードは《死体のダンス/Corpse Dance》！
《終止》は捌ききれない大物の連続攻撃を予告し、その《終止》をもカウンターして見せた宝輪が見事に逆転勝利して見せたのであった。

宝輪、シャッフル後に相手にデッキを渡した時点でカードの落下に気付き、不正なデッキ(メインボードが59枚だった)としてゲームロスの裁定が出される。

Game 3
宝輪の先攻でスタート。
《樹上の村》のみを展開して攻勢をかける小栗に対して、宝輪もしっかりと《破滅的な行為》を出して対応。小栗も《破滅的な行為》を出して相打ちを取った後《樹上の村》での攻撃を再開する。
展開としては1本目と同じ状況となり《狡猾な願い》から《恐怖/Terror》を手に入れ、さらに《直観/Intuition》から3枚の《獣群の呼び声/Call of the Herd》を取り出して宝輪はオフェンシヴモードに突入する。
ついでにずっと用意されていた宣伝用トークンにようやく出番があり、進藤ジャッジもご満悦。
ともかく、ここから一気にゲームは動き出し、小栗は《燃え立つ願い/Burning Wish》から《抹消/Obliterate》を取り出して、ちゃぶ台返しを宣告。仕方なくエンチャントを残そうと《ドルイドの誓い》を場に出すも起動してしまえば《抹消》の餌食。しかし小栗も《抹消》するタイミングが難しい局面でもある。
そんな状況下で小栗はノータイムで《抹消/Obliterate》をキャスト。対応して宝輪が撃った《嘘か真か/Fact or Fiction》の中には《樹上の村/Treetop Village》2枚を含め、立ち直るには絶好のカード群が。
しかし、それ以降土地を引いてこれない宝輪は…結局小栗の《樹上の村》に押し切られてしまった。
残る予選ラウンドは、あと2戦。
