ＧＰ横浜決勝ラウンド進出者8名、その内実に6人が白赤コントロールを使用しており、そしてグランプリを制した小室修が使用していたデッキもやはり白赤であった。
参加者800名中実に250人近くが選択したこのデッキタイプだが本稿ではいわゆるその中の「勝ち組」
と言える戦績を上げたプレイヤー数人に質問を投げかけ、その意見をもとに分析を試みてみた。

予選ラウンドを13連勝（3Ｂｙｅを含む）し圧倒的な強さでベスト8に一番乗りを果たした森田雅彦。
彼の使用したデッキは藤田剛史プロデュースのもので、明らかに他のプレイヤーの赤白デッキと一線を画す調整が施されていた。
それは同系対策に特化するため《霊体の地滑り/Astral Slide》《邪神の寺院/Temple of the False God》を4枚ずつ搭載しており、そしてさらに《滅殺の命令/Decree of Annihilation》をメインで2枚投入している。マナ供給源としてランド27枚と土地サイクリングカードを6枚確保しており実際に同系対決では、滞りなく
ランドを並べ続けての《滅殺の命令/Decree of Annihilation》により幾度も勝負が決まっていたようだ。
また《霊体の地滑り/Astral Slide》は対Zombie-Biddingにも強く、《総帥の召集/Patriarch's Bidding》により帰ってくる《有毒グール/Noxious Ghoul》の除去効果から《賛美されし天使/Exalted Angel》を守ってそのままビートダウンしきるパターンもあったという。
逆に、割りを食ってメインに使用されていないカードは《翼の破片/Wing Shards》だ。これにより対ゴブリンデッキにおいて少々不利な構成になっているのが特徴であり、事実森田も決勝ラウンドにおいてゴブリンデッキに苦渋をなめさせられることとなった。
他に見て取れる違いは他の赤白にはたいてい投入されている《正義の命令/Decree of Justice》が1枚も入っていないこと。
そして《怒りの天使アクローマ/Akroma, Angel of Wrath》がメイン１サイド２と大目に投入されており替わりに《拭い去り/Wipe Clean》の枚数が抑えられている。
ちなみにこれと全く同じデッキを使用したのは6人でそのうち4名が最終順位40位以内に入っていることからもいかにメタゲームに合った調整だったかが伺えるだろう。

続いて黒田と中村、そして優勝者の小室のデッキを見ていこう。
この3人は《翼の破片/Wing Shards》も《霊体の地滑り/Astral Slide》もメインに入っているいわゆるバランス型である。
にもかかわらず黒田も小室もなんと予選ラウンドで白系コントロールと10回ほど同系対決をして全勝したとのこと。
これは私が思っている以上に赤白同士の対決はプレイが難しく、そして彼らは相手のミスにつけこんでしっかりと勝負を物にしてきたということだろう。それほど、膠着した赤白同士のデュエルは難しい。
一方、中村は赤白コントロールにはは5回当たって3回負けているが、それ以外で全勝している。その原因のひとつにめずらしく2枚投入されている《正義の命令/Decree of Justice》をあげていた。
中村いわく「赤白以外には活躍した」とのこと。

そして最後に百瀬のデッキと加藤のデッキだ。
この二人のデッキはかなり特殊な調整が施されており、加藤のデッキはメイン３サイド１の《宝石の手の焼却者/Gempalm Incinerator》が百瀬のデッキはメインで4枚投入されている《窯口のドラゴン/Kilnmouth Dragon》が異彩を放っている。
実際、加藤はその《宝石の手の焼却者/Gempalm Incinerator》の力により見事にゴブリンデッキを操る山岸を下して準優勝に輝き、百瀬も《窯口のドラゴン/Kilnmouth Dragon》の暴力的なまでのパワーでかなりの数の赤白対決を物にしてきている。
このように、ベスト8の赤白を見渡すだけでもそれぞれのデッキにかなり構成に違いがあり、実は調整次第という自由度の高いデッキであることがよくわかる。そう、数枚のカードを入れ替えるだけで全方位に対応できるのがこの赤白デッキなのだ。
