Fate Reforged Streaming Events

To give players a sneak-peek at what's coming with Fate Reforged, Magic Online will be hosting a Fate Reforged Preview Draft. To show off the new set, we've invited popular streamers from far and wide to put it through its paces. We'll be holding two events, one on Wednesday, January 28, at 6:00 p.m. Pacific (UTC-8), and the second on Thursday, January 29, at 1:00 p.m. Pacific. Competition will be fierce—a booster pack of Fate Reforged is on the line for each match win, awarded with the start of Prerelease on Friday, January 30. For information about which streamers are playing which days, as well as links to their Twitch channels, check out the table below.

Changes in Awarding MOCS Promos

For the 2015 Magic Online Championship Series (MOCS), we've made some changes to how players are awarded promo cards. While these changes aren't new—implemented at the beginning of the 2015 MOCS season—we wanted to call attention to them again for those who may have missed the update.

In previous years, we have granted a MOCS promo card to every player with 15 or more QPs. For the 2015 MOCS, we are expanding this. Now each player gets a MOCS Season promo card for every 15 Qualifier Points during a MOCS regular season. If you have 30 or more, you’ll get two. If you have 45 or more, you’ll get three, and so on. You also can still earn additional promo cards, as well as premium promo cards, by placing highly in Preliminaries and Finals.

Extended Downtime On Wednesday, January 28

There will be an extended downtime on Wednesday, January 28, for Magic Online. Events close at 12:00 a.m. Pacific (08:00 UTC), midnight, and store activity and trades end at 2:45 a.m. Pacific (10:45 UTC) leading up to the system coming down at 3:00 a.m. Pacific (11:00 UTC). The system is estimated to return from downtime at 1:00 p.m. Pacific (21:00 UTC).

Downtime for January 21, 2015

• All tournaments will close Wednesday, January 21, at 5:00 a.m. Pacific (13:00 UTC)
• Store and trade activity will be suspended at approximately 7:45 a.m. Pacific(15:45 UTC)
• The system will be down from 8:00 a.m. Pacific (16:00 UTC) until 12:00 p.m. Pacific (20:00 UTC)
