Colby Nichols is an art director for Magic: The Gathering who first fell into the game back in 1995 with Ice Age. His path through the creative world has taken him from illustration and graphic design to creative direction, including co-founding the studio Jolby, before landing at Magic's Studio X in 2024. He's been shaping some of Magic's most coveted cards, art directing frame design and print treatments for headliner cards like The Soul Stone and the borderless signature Kevin Eastman cards. He also illustrated Field of the Dead for Secret Lair's An Encyclopedia of Magic. His favorite card is Sol Ring.
