Magic Academy
(November 13, 2026–January 28, 2027)
Looking to boldly gather for your first time playing Magic? Start out at the academy, or in this case, Magic Academy.
There are two types of Magic Academy events. Learn to Play events are for players who are just starting to play Magic. Deck Building events teach players to construct a deck of out of six Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek Play Boosters. You'll watch a short tutorial video at the start of the event then build a deck of your own from the contents of your Play Boosters. Each event type is perfect for any beginning ensign!
Please note that Welcome Decks for Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek are not available in all regions and that WPN stores in regions that are receiving Welcome Decks will not receive them until 2027. For specific details about what materials are available at a Magic Academy nearest you, please contact your local game store.

Naturally, receiving new promo cards for participating is the highly logical expectation, and Commander events such as this one and Commander Party for the release of Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek will not disappoint. WPN stores will have two extended-art promo cards up for grabs: Highly Illogical with art by Patricia Pria and Munitions Enthusiast with art by Remi Tacouot.
Non-foil copies will be available at most WPN retailers, while traditional foil copies will be available at WPN Premium locations. For more information on these events, including the distribution method for these promo cards, contact your local game store for all the details.

Magic Presents: To Boldly Go
(November 13, 2026–January 28, 2027)
Get ready to boldly go toward a vast universe of strategy with Magic Presents: To Boldly Go, a spin on a Sealed Deck league inspired by the Star Trek franchise.
In Magic Presents: To Boldly Go, players will start out at Starfleet Academy, where you will build a 40-card deck from six Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek Play Boosters and match up against three fellow cadets before graduating Starfleet Academy and venturing forth into the quadrants of outer space.
This league runs Sealed Deck over multiple weeks, and in each new week, you select one of the four quadrants—Alpha, Beta, Gamma, and Delta—and play three matches in that quadrant. During each week, you may add one Play Booster to your pool, giving your 40-card deck more options to choose from as you explore the vastness of space.
As long as you have played three matches in each quadrant, win or lose, you still discover strange new worlds and experience strange new strategies from your opponents.
After a player has explored all of the quadrants, regardless of record, they will receive a Solemn Simulacrum extended-art promo card with art by Randy Gallegos.
This is a play event that truly goes beyond the evening, allowing you and others to explore the concepts and mechanics of a release that celebrates Star Trek history. Contact your local WPN game store for more info on a league nearest to you.
Commander Party
(November 20–26, 2026, and January 15–21, 2027)
Explore new worlds and see what discoveries await you in your next Commander game as part of this round of Commander Party events!
In Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek's spin on Commander Party, players will engage in a regular game of Commander with an out-of-this-world twist. During each player's turn, they can tap a legendary creature they control to send an away team on a mission. A mission card is turned over from the mission deck, and that creature becomes a mission specialist, with each mission having a first ability that triggers once it becomes active. While each mission is active, players gain that mission's effects. This lasts until another player sends an away team and moves on to another mission.
And just in case players have run out of eligible creatures to send on a mission, this game mode also allows you to recruit an away team leader if you don't already have one in play, with their legendary status allowing you to send them on away missions as needed!
What strange new worlds and inhabitants will you encounter? Discover for yourself in this stellar spin on the beloved Commander format.
Players who participate in a Commander Party event will receive either a Munitions Enthusiast or Highly Illogical promo card. For exact distribution and more precise details on your local Commander Party events, reach out to your local WPN retail location for more info.
